Cape Disappointment

While working on a lesson I found these interesting facts about this place.
There is a place in the northwest of the United states called Cape Disappointment. It received this name from a fur trader in 1788 looking for a river, a passage to travel inland. After going through a severe storm he turned around here in disappointment. He was just a few miles from the mouth of what would be known as the Columbia river. Truly what could have been the beginning of discovery became the end of his exploration and he turned around.... and that decision and it’s effect still labels that place today.
Cape Disappointment
A few noteworthy facts about this place. It has been the place of countless shipwrecks because the water is shallow and one can not see the depth. Cape Disappointment receives about 2552 hours of fog a year – the equivalent of 106 days – making it one of the foggiest places in the United states. I believe the physical landmark can be instructive to us as well. We must not stay in this place of disappointment because it will cloud our vision and hinder our future.
