The Voice of God?
One of my Facebook friends recently posted an article coming against the idea that God speaks to individuals today and it was in error to want to know the voice of God.
That sparked in my heart a defence and declaration.
The voice of God is a Biblical reality. Do a simple search in your Bible, one must be an unbeliever to deny the reality that it is a feature of the faith, from Genesis to Revelation, God speaks to individuals.
Today.
The Word of God is the basis and source for the voice of God. The Logos. There is also the Rhema,
Dreams, visions, in prayer, in the voice of Christians.
Through preaching, teaching… God speaks.
Jesus said the following 7 times in Revelation to the Church.
Rev 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches
How can a believer deny God speaks?
Jesus said,
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
I believe Jesus and his words in the Bible.
The Spirit of God still speaks.
The question: Are you listening?
God speaks through the Word of God.
To deny the reality that the Spirit of God still leads, guides, moves, and "speaks" to people is to deny the nature of God in his dealings with people. God has not changed; he has not lost his voice and his desire to communicate.
Recently, I had an acquaintance relate to me the following: While studying the Bible, He felt the Lord impress on his heart, "Ask Scott Phillips to talk to you about the Work of the Holy Ghost." His response was, "IF this is you, let Scott ask me to go to lunch." In moments, specifically what he asked, I did in fact say to him.
That man received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, just like they did in the Bible. Even though this man was of a different denominational persuasion, God still spoke to him, and he experienced something he had been trained to doubt and deny for his whole life.
It's real.
This message preached by Joel Urshan was a powerful case for why the voice of God still speaks and why we need to hear it.
